Save the Planet with Token-Based Economies
Indeed, the world is facing a growing range of serious challenges. Take climate change, the accelerating loss of biodiversity, disparities in wealth, political instability, or pandemics. To solve these challenges we have to get economic incentives right.
Token-based economies offer a whole new tool kit for (re-)shaping economies. But it’s not only about sophisticated economic designs. At the TE Academy we believe that one of the key requirements for building better economic systems is respecting and integrating local perspectives. We’ve kicked off a program to establish local hubs for token engineering. With our TE Local Hosts program, we collaborate with community members in different parts of the world. Our first cohort of hosts is located in New Zealand, India, UK, Italy, Brazil and Dominican Republic. We support them in spinning up local learning groups enabling TE education in any language!
As we open routes to global collaboration and joint #OpenScience initiatives in token engineering, we openly invite you to explore your Local Host Program or contact us with an interest in starting your own!

Our community is priority no.1, and as a new crypto-native discipline, our goal is to establish a common understanding of this nascent field — as a synthesis of various existing scientific disciplines such as economics, engineering, control theory, data science and political science. The interdisciplinary nature of crypto-economic systems sets the foundation for the development of TE Fundamentals — the first comprehensive education and certification program in this sector!

What does a Token Engineering job entail? This month we invited Zhiwei, a TE Academy Alumni, to share her story in the Token Engineering field.
Zhiwei has a background in neuroscience, or more precisely, Computational Cognitive Science. The interdisciplinary nature of Token Engineering makes it a feasible entry for anyone interested in web3.
“I am becoming a token engineer. Really, I’m still exploring the intersection of researching data science and human behaviour, and web3 is the context I’m interested in right now.”
By the end of the year, Zhiwei plans to find a way to “balance her work (read: build something) and hobbies (read: personal learning journey). Also, to stop my snack addiction with mindfulness and new habits.”. 💪🤓🧘♀️😅
Her encouragement to aspiring TEs: Don’t force and give it time.
